I don't like people punching defenseless people any more than the next person, but--I've met people who didn't like Anders just 'cause he's Anders. I've had to deal with a bunch of them. There was this excitable little elf dude who I had to sit on until he stopped--
Anyway. Bruce didn't strike me as that kinda guy. I'll ask him what the deal with that was.
...And I'm pretty sure Anders could have taken him if he'd tried, they're both like ten pounds and short enough we could shove 'em with the elves and no one would notice.
...That's a good plan if you ever need t' get Anders a quick escape. Betcha the Dalish would even letcha do it.
Anders can't fight back, Kaisa. If he even tried, he'd have the mob on him, and Commander Cullen has loudly declared that he is willing to let the mob take Anders if he even looks as though he'll step out of line. Anders can't even look at someone crooked or he'll be dead. Maybe the only time your surgeon has a backbone is when faced with someone completely defenseless.
[Harsh, but this has happened a few times with Anders and Nathaniel has no tolerance for it. He sometimes wonders if the Inquisition will get tired of waiting for Anders to slip up and just make up charges so they can hang him.
A sigh.]
Don't...I'm sorry. It's just been a problem. People taking advantage of the fact that he has to be careful. Maybe you're right and there's another reason.
I understand. And I'm not gonna let people go around grabbing pitchforks and torches. I'm not about letting the mob get him, or anyone else. If it were most people, I'd tell them to fuck off. But--Bruce is an apostate, too. He was hiding that from everyone, just like Anders was.
But I'll try to figure out just what was going on. It'd be wrong to put any consequences on his head without knowing what the deal was. And it's not like I'm trying t' marry the guy, anyway. Just...ended up asking him on a date. And I figure if I'm going to do it, I'm gonna do it right.
Truthfully? I hope there's an explanation. I hope he's really a good man who listens to reason. And I hope...I truly hope you have a good time. You. Might not want to ask him about Anders during the date, though.
