You are very much wrong, [Nathaniel says incredulously.] It is in his nature to show kindness to everyone, even Templars. What do you think he was doing, as insistent as he was with your man? He has more than met you halfway--he has been healing your people for well over a year now, and asked nothing of them but to listen to an occasional self-righteous tirade. What, exactly, does halfway look like, if not unprejudiced, attentive service? Keep in mind how delicately you handle your man Cade, when Anders has likely suffered no less and is at least as troubled.
From my understanding, he threatened to glyph Cade into place if he moved again. [Faintly dry.] I am not trying to underscore his kindness or his ... sacrifice. I am merely asking him to not engage with them, if they do not wish to be engaged with. He has every right to serve them with as much compassion as he has -- but they have every right to say no.
[Even more dryly.] Although I am fairly certain most of them would not care if they were healed by a nug if they had been sliced open.
As for Cade ... [he is not going to go into Cade's business, but to say.] As the Wardens have helped Anders heal, I am trying to do the same for Cade. He will be reprimanded, and if you demand satisfaction, you and Anders will have it. However I will not force him to seek medical attention from Anders. He has to come to it on his own.
From what I've gathered - that is when Brother Jehan stepped in. Luckily for all parties, he had a cooler head. He reported it to me immediately, and I have gone ahead and opened communication with you and with Anders, as this is both a Grey Warden and a mage to templar manner.
[See? Absolutely Going By The Book. Even though he sort of wants to bang Cade and Anders heads together and state that they are fighting for the same damned side and to get over themselves.]
Like I stated, I will reprimand Cade for not going up the chain of command properly - and for Anders own safety - I do not want him to heal Cade. I will ensure that he is not in trouble for it either.
I believe so. You are in a position of authority and he respects authority. As long as you are coming at him as a Senior Warden and not as Anders's husband.
That is precisely what I intend to do. And I want you to be there as well. If there is the possibility of an abuse of magic, it is worth investigating fully, even if only to prove it false.
He's your man; you give him the invitation. And let him know exactly who I am and why we are talking to him, and that you will be there as a witness. I don't want anyone to feel persecuted. We'll have to talk to Anders as well. This isn't a dire issue but it is an issue, and we need to hear both sides before deciding on a course of action.
